DRINK LIKE A BABY

I’ve had an appreciation for coffee since birth, that’s no exaggeration. As a baby, my dad would dip my pacifier in his coffee. When I was old enough to handle a bottle, my dad would put small amounts of coffee in my bottle. Obviously my dad was serious about crafting a coffee connoisseur. I’m definitely not a coffee newbie & I understand the one rule with coffee: you don’t mess with someone’s coffee! 

BECOMING A “HEALTHY” HIPPIE, ONE BABY STEP AT A TIME…

Over the past decade, I gradually made baby steps towards making my coffee habit healthier. I cringe at the thought of what I previously added to my coffee… white sugar, artificial sweeteners & creamers. With taking baby steps, I gradually made the transition to a healthier coffee. Just like losing weight doesn’t happen over night, neither does saying “good-bye” to unhealthy habits.

First, I “weaned” myself from using artificial sweeteners, using white sugar as an alternative, along with artificial creamers. Eventually, I weaned myself off white sugar, & used only artificial creamers. I finally was able to wean myself off the artificial creamers, using only half-&-half creamer instead. 

HOW THE HIPPIE COFFEE CREATION WAS BORN

After becoming ill with an autoimmune disorder, I challenged myself to decrease my dairy intake. I created this super yummy Hippie Coffee recipe while searching for ways to enjoy my coffee without  dairy. Creamy & super smooth, naturally sweet with NO added sugar… What more could you ask for in a coffee drink?

Hippie Coffee

The best coffee recipe with no added sugar and sans dairy!

Ingredients

  • 16 oz. brewed Coffee
  • 1 heaping T. Coconut Cream, unsweetened (chunky part)
  • 1 T. Coconut Cream, unsweetened (liquid part)
  • 1/2 t. Vanilla Extract (without alcohol)
  • Cinnamon, to taste
  • *Please use organic ingredients when possible.

Instructions

  1. Using a personal blender, blend together all ingredients for 10-20 seconds, or until frothy.
  2. Pour into your coffee mug and enjoy!

Notes

**If you don't own a personal blender, an immersion (hand-held) or full-sized blender would also work.

HOW TO MAKE HIPPIE COFFEE

What you’ll need:

The Coconut Cream is amazing & diminishes any bitter or acidity from the coffee, common complaints from coffee drinkers. If you’ve never worked with Coconut Cream before, it’s part chunky cream & part liquid.

For this healthy coffee recipe, I use a heaping tablespoon of the chunky portion & a tablespoon of the liquid portion. If you want it more creamier & naturally sweeter, you can modify it to your taste.  

 3 EASY STEPS TO HIPPIE COFFEE

Step #1. Assemble all of your ingredients: brewed coffee, unsweetened coconut cream, vanilla extract, & cinnamon.

Step #2. Toss all ingredients into your personal blender. Blend for 10-20 seconds.

Step #3. Enjoy your hot, creamy & delicious Hippie Coffee. 🙂
